Community Advisory Council

Our Community Advisory Council members have good knowledge of the health priorities in their communities. This might come from their personal experience as a patient or carer, or from their employment in areas like health consumer advocacy, population health, or community services. Members are not required to have clinical experience.

NT PHN is looking for people with strong connections to their community to represent community voices, experiences and needs in healthcare.

Several positions on the Community Advisory Council are now open and we are looking for new members to join to inform and advise the board of NT PHN.

You will have the opportunity to:

Get to know and work with a group of diverse people from all over the NT who are passionate about their communities, health and wellbeing

  • Develop your knowledge and skills to participate in committees and provide strategic advice to the board
  • Represent the views, preferences and issues experienced by your community
  • Contribute to improving the impact of the primary health commissioning and the healthcare system in the NT.


Community Advisory Council members will be paid for their time and contributions. The Council meets 4 times a year.

We are looking to recruit new members who can represent communities, consumers and people with lived experiences of health and wellbeing challenges.

We strongly encourage members to apply with representation from:

  • Remote areas
  • Central Australia region
  • Tennant Creek and Barkly region
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • People from the LGBTQIA+ community or gender and sexuality diverse people
  • People with disability and neurodiversity
  • People with lived and living experiences of mental health and related challenges
  • People with lived and living experiences of chronic health conditions
  • People with lived and living experiences as a supporter, carer or kin.
