Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is an industry renowned provider of preventative, clinical and emergency primary health care in the Northern Territory. Founded in 1998, KWHB is a fully accredited Aboriginal community-controlled health service based across the rolling river and desert country of the remote outback region to the southwest of Katherine in Australia’s Northern Territory

What’s the role?

  • Responsible for providing podiatry, physiotherapy and diabetic support for individual clients in the Katherine West region
  • Assist in meeting community priorities and ensuring best practice guidelines are adhered to.
  • Participation in case conferencing for chronic disease;
  • Providing follow-up and monitoring of clients;
  • Coordinating referrals to other internal, visiting and external providers; and
  • Preparation of reports and case management not
  • Collaborate with other KWHB primary health care teams in governance meetings

Is this the right role for you?

  • A recognised qualification in Podiatry, Physiotherapy, Public Health or Community Development.
  • Candidates for Podiatrist or Physiotherapist will require AHPRA registration
  • Candidates for Diabetes Educator will require registration with AHPRA and Australia Diabetes Educators Association
  • Experience working and communicating with Aboriginal people (or another cross-cultural setting) and strongly committed to improving health outcomes for people living in remote communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality assessment and treatment for a range of presentations.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written skills with a particular emphasis on communication skills and establishing trust and rapport, including working independently.

About the Location:
Where the outback meets the rainforest, Katherine is the Crossroads of Australia’s North. A region full of misty waterfalls and untouched gorges, the Northern Territory’s third largest town has a population of over 10,000 and is just 3 hours drive from Darwin, in a naturally stunning part of the Top End.

NT PHN/RWA NT may be able to offer relocation support and clinical educational financial assistance to health professionals who are relocating to the NT or moving within the NT to a greater remoteness area classification for the purposes of employment and further clinical education.
