What’s the role?

Being successful in the role of General Practitioner, you will be able to provide excellent medical services to the population served by Miwatj Health. Managing acute and chronic conditions with a multidisciplinary approach, will be both rewarding, challenging and a life-changing experience. Being able to experience health conditions, you may not have experienced in any other location, will expand your clinical, cultural knowledge and existing skills, whilst delivering your best health care.

What are your responsibilities?

  • Active participation in the daily clinical and health promotional routines
  • Manage referrals of patients from other members of the health team
  • Review and follow-up of patients with on-going conditions
  • Participate in rostered clinics and outreach services such as, Chronic Conditions and Child Health
  • Provide “in-service” education to health staff

Is the role right for you?

If you are a passionate general practitioner and can meet the below requirements, we want to hear from you.

  • Medical Practitioner’s Specialist GP Registration with AHPRA
  • Fellow of RACGP or ACCRM
  • Extensive experience in General Practice
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, values and beliefs
  • Understanding of issues effecting the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in contemporary society
  • Commitment to improving Aboriginal health through primary health care
  • Previous experience in a community or Clinical and Primary Health Care Service
  • Demonstrated experience or understanding of Aboriginal Community Control Primary Health Care Service
  • Ability to speak an Aboriginal language from the region and/or knowledge of traditional kinship systems operating in the region desired
  • Experience in the use of clinical information system Communicare, highly regarded
