Red Lily Health Board’s Warruwi and Minjilang Clinics are expected to transfer to Red Lily Health Board (ACCHO) ownership from 1 September 2022. As a result, there is an exciting opportunity for two dynamic general practitioners to join Red Lily’s passionate teams. You will be based in either Warruwi or Minjilang Clinic, with opportunity to share in the development of a true community-focused health service.
Why Red Lily?
Red Lily Health Board is a new Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service that is an evolving, friendly, culturally appropriate organisation, working to improve health by empowering its local people.
Where are the clinics?
Minjilang Health Centre is the first of four West Arnhem community centres that will transfer to the management of Red Lily Health Service. Minjilang Health Centre is situated on Croker Island 200km NE of Darwin and has a population of approximately 300 people.
Warruwi Health Centre is the second of four West Arnhem community centres that will also transfer to the management of Red Lily Health Service. The main township of Warruwi is located on South Goulburn Island, approximately 300km east of Darwin at the eastern base of the Cobourg Peninsula and has a population of approximately 500 people.

What’s the role?
You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary remote primary health care team, that manage client care throughout their lifespan, treat illness, promote wellbeing, provide education & training, and encourage community health action to contribute to better health outcomes.
What will you be doing?
- Coordinating with other communities and teams within Red Lily and beyond, to ensure that communities receive high quality services and achieve optimal outcomes
- Provide high quality clinical and culturally safe health care
- Manage acute and chronic conditions with timely identification and treatment
- Treat chronic conditions with a multidisciplinary approach
- Participate in the daily clinical and health promotional routines
- Review and follow-up of patients with on-going conditions
- Using PCIS for electronic health records
Selection criteria to apply:
- Specialist General Practitioner registration with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Fellow of RACGP or ACCRM
- Minimum of three (3) years’ post fellowship general practice experience
- Ability to interact effectively with people from different cultures
- Understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal health: cultural issues; cultural safety and
- determinants issues
- Highly developed interpersonal, complex problem solving, written and verbal communication skills
- Hold (or eligible for) NT manual drivers’ licence, Police Clearance Certificate, NT Ochre Card and Land Council work permit
- Hold current Indemnity Insurance cover
- Willingness to travel by 4WD and/or light aircraft to other communities, including overnight stays as required

What’s it like living in Warruwi?
Warruwi is the main Aboriginal settlement on South Goulburn Island, approximately 300km east of Darwin. The community has a school, health clinic, Creche, convenience store, arts centre and airport.
Warruwi has a stunning mix of natural landscapes including pristine beaches, rocky outcrops and sweeping marshlands, harbouring an abundance of wildlife such as crocodiles, fish, dugongs, turtles, oysters, crayfish, mud crabs and stingrays.
What’s it like living in Minjilang?
Minjilang is the main Aboriginal settlement on Croker Island 200km NE of Darwin. The community has a school, health clinic, convenience store, community hall, and airport.
Minjilang is home to abundant wildlife and flora that inhabit the beaches, wetlands and swamps and expansive native bushlands. There are opportunities for fishing, community sports facilities and ovals, and bushwalking.
NT PHN/RWA NT may be able to offer Scholarships or Bursaries to health professionals who are delivering clinical services in an MM6 or MM7 location.
