Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS)

We are available to work with primary health care clinics and providers to help grow their understanding and use of the range of Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) payments.

The MBS, a listing of the Medicare services subsidised by the Australian government, is part of the wider Medicare Benefits Scheme managed by the Department of Health and administered by Medicare Australia.

MBS items online checker

You can use the MBS items online checker to see if a particular MBS item has been claimed for your patient within a specific time period.

The online checker will advise if they are eligible to claim a Medicare benefit for that particular service, based on the patient’s Medicare history.

You can access the MBS items online checker through Health Professional Online Services (HPOS).
