Hepatitis C – an update on the NT response – Webinar

HCV remains to be a significant public health issue within the Northern Territory despite evidence showing the correct treatment can cure 95% of individuals.
Join Professor Robert (Bob) Batey whilst we discuss the Northern Territory’s current battle to eliminate HCV and the important role of primary care practitioners within the fight.

We will introduce the NT developed and supported Eliminate Hepatitis C Tool Kit and patient resources prior to this webinar.

Learning objectives:
• Recognising the importance of primary care practices in the elimination of Hepatitis C in the Northern Territory
• Discuss testing, treatment, and management of HCV in primary care including treating complicated cases
• Discuss how to treat liver disease including decompensated cirrhosis
• Articulate local referral pathways for quality and coordination of hepatitis C care

The presenter: Professor Bob Batey:
Prof. Bob Batey has been a Hepatologist since 1976 as well as specializing in Addiction Medicine 1981. He currently serves
Alice Springs Hospital as the visiting Hepatologist since 2007, parallel to working in Addiction Medicine on the Central Coast in NSW.

Of all his experiences, Prof. Bob Batey notably regards his time in Alice Springs as the most fascinating and enjoyable time of his life.
Further crediting the amazing teaching and mentoring he has received over decades from colleagues around the country for this.
