General Practitioner, Alice Springs Youth Detention Centre

  • Part Time, continuous position
  • Total effective package: $233,858 – $267,604 (p.a.)*(pro rata)

Central Australian Aboriginal Congress (Congress) is seeking a compassionate and dedicated physician to play a pivotal role in a newly established multidisciplinary team at the Alice Springs Youth Detention Centre.

What’s the role?
 
In this part-time position (0.5 FTE), you will become an integral part of the GP community at Congress while actively contributing to the team at the youth detention center by:
 
  • Delivering culturally sensitive GP services within a comprehensive primary healthcare framework across all areas of Congress’ Health Services Division
  • Embracing the principles, values, and philosophy of Congress as an Aboriginal community-controlled health service
  • Conducting holistic primary healthcare clinical consultations
  • Be available for rostered after-hours and weekend duties
What do you need to apply?
 
  • Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Fellow of the RACGP or ACRRM, or a minimum of five years of GP experience
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary primary healthcare team
  • Willingness to incorporate Aboriginal values and traditions into clinical practice, including being open to cultural guidance from Aboriginal staff members
