CEO Christmas Message

As we enter the holiday season, I want to use this time to reflect and thank everyone who worked with us over the last 12 months.

The sector has accomplished so much this year, through incredible hard work, compassion, and resilience. We are thankful to have played a role, as well as support your work over this time.

Almost $75 million was invested in improving health outcomes for Territorians this year. Over 40% of that has been spent on mental health and suicide prevention programs.

We saw the opening of the adult Darwin Head of Health centre in Casuarina, and the expansion of the headspace program, including the launch of their Palmerston office. Connect to Wellbeing, was also launched. This local helpline provides access to mental health support when people need it most. It will be a vital resource to Territorians over Christmas.

Our Workforce branch made significant progress as well. We recruited 119 health professionals into the NT. In addition to this, the team commissioned nearly 2000 Outreach visits to rural and remote communities, delivering 16,000 occasions of service.

This is only a small snippet of what everyone accomplished this year.

To all our service providers, GPs, health practitioners, medical clinics, friends, family, thank you for your support in helping us achieve the best health and wellbeing of all Territorians.

We would like to wish you all a wonderful and safe holiday season, and a Happy New Year.

– Gill Yearsley, NT PHN Chief Executive Officer
