Darwin’s Adult Mental Health Centre

We’ve been working in partnership with the NT primary health care sector to establish an Adult Mental Health Centre in Darwin.

NEAMI National, working with Larrakia Nation, is the lead provider on the project and are working with stakeholders across greater Darwin to plan the centre to make sure it meets the needs to the local community.

The project will receive $14 million in funding over four years to establish the centre with Darwin being one of eight national trial sites nationwide.

The centre will target adults aged 25 years and over and be developed based on national guidelines.

Individuals and their families and carers will be able to seek on-the-spot assessments, advice and treatment if required, and be supported to access a range of services suited to their level of need, without a prior appointment.

The centre will address some of the current gaps existing for people experiencing high levels of distress or suicidal crisis and will connect them with longer term care through integration with other local services.
