Northern Territory PHN (NT PHN) welcomes the Commonwealth Government’s announcement of $93 million to invest in health workforce agencies. NT PHN is one of a national network of rural health workforce agencies who work to recruit and retain health professionals to regional, rural and remote Australia. By recruiting the right health professionals to the right place, NT PHN is meeting local needs so people in the Northern Territory (NT) can enjoy their best health and wellbeing.
NT PHN CEO, Nicki Herriot, said, “We are excited by the opportunity to influence access to essential primary health care, the quality of access and the sustainability of the NT’s health workforce. By supporting a sustainable and multidisciplinary workforce, NT PHN can help to better meet local health needs across the NT.”
The funding will support a redesign of health workforce programs nationally. NT PHN, along with other rural workforce agencies, will be invited to respond to a targeted grants round shortly.
