Health Commissioning Team Lead

Northern Territory PHN leads the development and coordination of an equitable, comprehensive primary health care system and an engaged health workforce driven by community needs.

Salary:  $113,935 to 126,344 + Super
Benefits:  Generous salary packaging, six weeks annual leave and flexible working arranagements
Location:  Darwin or Alice Springs
Maximum Term to 30 June 2020

About the Opportunity
As a Health Commissioning Team Lead you will take a lead role in the service design, sourcing and contract relationship management aspects of commissioning evidence based primary health services and key related projects across the NT. You will take a proactive approach to leadership and Health commissioning activities within the organisation.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have proven experience managing a high performing team. You will be able to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders at a senior level to achieve improved health outcomes for the target population.

You are a strategic, critical thinker who likes to make an impact in the work you do, and you know how to manage multiple priorities. You are accountable and responsive, with a project management background, exceptional business report and writing skills, and prior experience working in an environment requiring cultural sensitivity.  

This is a new role which will be an integral part of Health Commissioning Branch. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supporting the Health Commissioning Leads to fulfil the accountabilities of their roles, undertaking line management, performance management while managing team capacity and workflow. 
  • High level project management skills, knowledge and experience with an ability to deliver new and ongoing projects while maintaining program budgets and key account management.
  • Strategic, system and continuous improvement approach on the development of NT PHN health commissioning functions as well as broad range of primary health care issues in the Northern Territory.  
  • Applying the NT PHN Commissioning Frameworks, Guidelines and Workflows to deliver best practice commissioning.

  • Proven knowledge and experience working in primary health, health program management and/or health planning.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Allied Health, Psychosocial Services, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Social and Emotional Wellbeing, Youth, Suicide Prevention, Mental Health and/or Alcohol and Other Drugs
  • Demonstrated understanding of the comprehensive primary health care sector including rural and remote services, Indigenous health and cultural safety, and issues in cross cultural health service delivery.
