NT PHN are partnering with Palmerston Medical Clinic to find a general practitioner to join their committed and passionate team in their Palmerston clinic. Palmerston Medical is a bulk billing practice that offers quality medical care from general health checks, skin checks, pre-employment medicals, minor surgical procedures, cryotherapy, and women’s health care to travel advice and vaccinations.


The successful General Practitioner is responsible for providing high quality primary health care services to the Darwin community and in keeping with best practice standards. The general practitioner works with a passionate team of health professionals to provide excellent quality health care.


  • Provide appropriate care and services to patients of all age ranges and varied health care needs
  • Respond to medical and health problems affecting patients, including taking patient history, diagnosis, investigation, treatment and referrals as necessary
  • Provide management of long-term conditions in line with national guidelines and pathways
  • Prescribe for patients as appropriate to their needs
  • Provide appropriate health promotion and preventative health care advice to all patients
  • Order diagnostic test as required
  • Refer patients to other health providers and specialists as appropriate
  • Record and maintain accurate, adequate and relevant patient records using established practice protocols and computerised medical records system
  • Actively communicate and coordinate with colleagues, specialist services and allied health professionals when sharing patient care
  • Maintain patient and practice confidentiality at all times


To be considered for this opportunity, you must meet the below essential criteria:

Only applicants with full working rights within Australia will be considered (Australian Citizen or Permanent Residents) and eligible for general AHPRA registration

  • Current resume with 2 contactable referees
  • Australian recognised medical degree
  • Current general or specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Two to five years previous experience in general practice
  • Experienced in skin checks and procedures
  • Participation is quality improvement and continuing professional development
  • CPR or ALS certificate, undertaken within the past three years
  • Current medical indemnity cover or ability to obtain
  • Current Police Clearance
  • Current Working with Children (Ochre Card)
  • Current Driver’s License
  • Cover letter addressing experience, specialisation and interests, availability and strengths that can be brought to the role


  • Fellow of RACGP or ACCRM or a recognised equivalent


The general practitioner will be required to provide evidence of:

  • Current primary source verification of medical qualifications (EICS verification)
  • Current RACGP assessment of experience in general practice
  • Current AMC MCQ part 1 and AMC Clinical part 2 test results or AMC certificate
  • Current OET or ILETS test results
  • Eligible for level 3 supervision
  • Proof of right to work in Australia
