Rural Workforce Agency (RWA) NT is partnering with Early Start Australia (ESA) to find an experienced, dynamic and energetic Paediatric Physiotherapist to join their multi-disciplinary team. ESA is the first of its kind in Darwin and the Northern Territory, they work on the principal that every child is unique and amazing, full of potential and doing the very best they can. In this role you will provide a range of assessment and treatment services for children with conditions affecting their physical development, mobility and ability within clinic and community settings.

The city's multicultural mix is highlighted by its many exciting cultural festivals and weekly food and craft markets. There are plenty of activities to keep you entertained including the Deckchair Cinema, sailing, museums and shopping centres as well as being nearby Litchfield National Park for great camping and swimming. The region has a tropical climate with a distinctively dry and wet season.


  • Managing a clinical caseload of children across a range of needs and diagnoses including developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders, acquired brain injuries, neurological and genetic conditions
  • Providing individualised therapy consultations via in-rooms therapy or home visits. Other service delivery models may include group sessions and telehealth
  • Liaising with clients and our inter-disciplinary team of experienced therapists to identify opportunities for cross discipline team working, ensuring the best plan of care for your client
  • In consultation with clients and their families plan, develop, deliver and evaluate individual or group specialised services in consultation with clients, as per their needs identified throughout the assessment process
  • In consultation with clients and their families/carers, identify SMARTA goals using person-centred principles
  • Provide both individual and group physiotherapy intervention programs to achieve maximum independence and participation in activities important to the client
  • Use assistive devices and equipment as required enhancing the client’s quality of life
  • Identify, develop and review information and resources
  • Timely and accurate completion of documentation, ensuring your own work is compliant with policy, procedures and regulatory requirements


To be considered for this opportunity, you must meet the below essential criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification in Physiotherapy with registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience providing physiotherapy services for children with a variety of special needs
  • An ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Planning, implementing and evaluating programs whether individual or group settings
  • Excellent communication skills and enthusiasm for working in a team environment
