Rural Workforce Agency Northern Territory (RWA NT) are partnering with Danila Dilba Health Service (DDHS) to find General Practitioners to join their passionate teams in various city clinics.

Established in 1991, Danila Dilba Health Service (DDHS) is a community-controlled organisation providing comprehensive primary health care services to Biluru communities in the Yilli Rreung Region of the Northern Territory.

Being highly motivated and passionate, you will be able to provide a range of culturally appropriate, high standard primary health care, and comprehensive health care services to the clients of DDH.

The mission of DDHS is to improve the physical, mental, spiritual, cultural and social wellbeing of its clients through innovative comprehensive primary health care programs that are based on the principles of equity, access, empowerment, community self-determination and inter-sectoral collaboration.

Being located in Darwin, gives opportunity to explore all of the NT tourist hotspots and special events. As a local, you have the benefit of these locations and events able to be experienced all year round. Darwin has a population of over 148,000 people, and has all of the comfortable amenities of new shopping centres, sporting events, such as the V8 Supercars, medical clinics, hospitals and nightlife attractions, all in a welcoming and tropical oasis.

  • Provide clinical services to clients in the acute setting while applying the principles of chronic disease management to appropriate cases
  • Participate in screening, recall, follow up and referral processes
  • Utilise health check assessments and care planning for all clients
  • Provide clinical services in emergencies or for clients on walk-in basis
  • Contribute to implementation and ongoing development of the broader DDHS strategic, business and operational plan

Selection Criteria:

To be considered for this opportunity, you must meet the below essential criteria:

  • Full working rights within Australia
  • Current Resume with 2 contactable referees
  • Vocationally registered as a General Practitioner with AHPRA, with a minimum of two years clinical experience
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to liaise with people from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team in a cross cultural and complex environment
  • Understanding and respect of the importance of the role of Aboriginal Community Controlled organisations, Aboriginal Health Practitioner and other indigenous staff in Aboriginal Health and be willing to respect and support the DDHS Aboriginal Health Practitioner First policy
  • Understanding and awareness of the concepts of Aboriginal self-determination

Desired Criteria:

  • Experience working in Aboriginal Primary Health Care settings
  • Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history
  • Relevant post-graduate qualifications
  • Membership of a professional association
  • Ability to use Communicare and HIC online
  • Demonstrated competence in working with and understanding Medicare and the Practice Incentive Scheme
  • Understanding of AHP Career Structure/Competencies
