Rural workforce Agency (RWA) NT are partnering with Danila Dilba (DDHS) to find a Psychologist/Clinical Psychologist to join their team operating out of various clinics across Darwin and Palmerston in the Northern Territory.

DDHS is a is a community-controlled organisation providing comprehensive primary health care services to Biluru communities in the Yilli Rreung Region of the Northern Territory.

This is a dynamic opportunity for a clinic-based Practitioner who will be responsible for providing high quality mental health and social and emotional wellbeing services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults and children. The role is based at the Don Dale Youth Detention Centre, and will at times be based at other Clinics.

Darwin is a tropical oasis and is arguably one of Australia's most cosmopolitan cities with a population consisting of more than 60 nationalities. The city's multicultural mix is highlighted by its many exciting cultural festivals and weekly food and craft markets. There are plenty of activities to keep you entertained including the Deckchair Cinema, sailing, museums and shopping centres as well as being nearby Litchfield National Park and Kakadu National Park for great camping and swimming. The region has a tropical climate with a distinctively dry and wet season.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and contribute to strategies that will assist the Indigenous community in meeting their primary health care needs
  • Support improvements to the community through the development of new service models
  • Develop, deliver and implement contemporary models of holistic mental health
  • Support improvements to the community through the development of new service models
  • Engage in continued professional development including attending relevant workshops and in services

Selection Criteria:

To be considered for this opportunity, you must meet the below essential criteria:

  • Proof of full working rights within Australia
  • Current resume with two contactable referees
  • Tertiary qualifications in psychology
  • Current registration with AHPRA
  • Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current issues, standards and trends in the delivery of mental health and social and emotional
  • Recent experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with clients, carers and other professionals from diverse cultures
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare written reports of a high standard
  • Proficiency in the use of electronic information systems
