Casuarina Square Medical is an AGPAL accredited practice that has been looking after the health care needs of Darwin residents for over 30 years. In this time Casuarina Square Medical’s goal has been to deliver holistic GP and specialist services to promote general health and well-being to the community. Every patient is important and are treated with the utmost respect and care.

Being successful in the role you will be able to ensure smooth and efficient functioning of the practice and provide an exceptional standard of care to the practice patients. With your excellent communication skills and empathetic nature, you will naturally make patients feel at ease in your delivery of care.

The Location:

The Top End region is home to Darwin, Australia's only tropical capital city, and is the traditional home of the Larrakia people. Darwin is arguably one of Australia's most cosmopolitan cities with a population consisting of more than 60 nationalities. The greater Darwin area has a population of approximately 120,500 people. The city's multicultural mix is highlighted by its many exciting cultural festivals and weekly food and craft markets. There are plenty of activities to keep you entertained including the Deckchair Cinema, sailing, museums and shopping centres as well as being nearby Litchfield National Park for great camping and swimming. The region has a tropical climate with a distinctive dry and wet season.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform clinical duties within the required level of clinical competency
  • Assist GP’s with minor clinical procedures, provide immunisations, wound care and chronic disease management
  • Explain procedures to patients whilst being empathetic and supportive
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team to improve better health outcomes
  • Have ability to work cooperatively and independently whilst prioritising tasks with high level of attention to detail 

Selection Criteria:

To be considered for this opportunity, you must meet the below essential criteria:

  • Evidence of full working rights within Australia
  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Previous practice experience in a senior role or community based is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated understanding of the needs of general practice and interest in community-based nursing including patient education and health promotion
  • High level computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Word and Excel with ability to use clinical practice software Medical Director 3 and Pracsoft 3
  • Knowledge of current immunisation schedules, Diabetes management, asthma management, enhanced primary care items, infection control, CPR and emergency resuscitation techniques, equipment and drugs
  • Asthma and Spirometry qualification desirable
  • Experience in Medicare item numbers and health funds
  • Experience with specific social groups serviced by practice, such as adolescents, aged care, migrant or refuge groups, Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders people preferred
  • Additional qualifications such as Accredited Women’s Health Certificate or Diabetes Education highly regarded
