Rural Workforce Agency NT (RWA NT) are partnering with Darwin Children’s Clinic to find a General Practitioner, with an interest in Paediatrics, to join their newly established passionate team. Being a new concept in children’s healthcare, Darwin Children’s Clinic aims to become a clinic providing comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for all children regardless of age or medical issues under one roof.

The general practitioner will be part of a multidisciplinary team incorporating GP’s, specialist paediatricians and allied health professionals to work collaboratively together to co-manage complex paediatric patients and support their families.

Darwin is Australia's only tropical capital city and is arguably one of Australia's most cosmopolitan cities with a population consisting of more than 60 nationalities. The greater Darwin area has a population of approximately 120,500 people. The city's multicultural mix is highlighted by its many exciting cultural festivals and weekly food and craft markets. There are plenty of activities to keep you entertained including the Deckchair Cinema, sailing, museums and shopping centres as well as being nearby Litchfield National Park for great camping and swimming. The region has a tropical climate with a distinctive dry and wet season.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with general practitioners and other health professionals to provide high quality therapeutic care
  • Examine paediatric patients to evaluate their growth and development
  • Evaluate patients to diagnose injuries, illnesses, and developmental problems
  • Advise patients and their families on proper diet, exercise, and disease prevention and treatment
  • Track patient’s conditions over time and adjust treatment as needed

Essential Criteria:

To be considered for this opportunity, you must meet the below essential criteria:

  • Evidence of full working rights within Australia
  • Vocationally registered with AHPRA as a general practitioner
  • Fellow of RACGP
  • Experienced in Paediatric medicine
  • Have patience and a sense of humour
  • Excellent communication skills, strong active listening skills with advanced problem-solving abilities 
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking and reasoning
  • Experienced in working within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Professional Indemnity insurance
  • Current Police clearance or willingness to obtain
  • Ochre Card (Working with Children) or willingness to obtain
  • Diploma in Child Health desirable but not essential
