User-added imageRural Workforce Agency NT (RWA NT) are partnering with Australian Regional & Remote Community Services (ARRCS), to offer a Registered Nurse the opportunity to join their Rocky Ridge Aged Care Facility in Katherine NT.

Being successful in the role, you will be able to provide leadership, support and guidance to other care staff in the delivery of quality care based on assessed resident’s needs that enhances and promotes quality of life, whilst ensuring that care is consistent with the mission of ARRCS and current best practice.

ARRCS provide care and support to people from Darwin to Docker River, with Aged and Disability Services, Mental Health support, Childcare and Community Care Services, Residential Aged Care and School Nutrition Programs. ARRCS take a holistic approach to enabling the communities we work within. A deep respect for all Elders and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures is at the heart of their work.

Katherine is a thriving town within this sub-tropical region, situated a three hour drive south of Darwin. The main town is situated on the banks of the Katherine River and has a population of around 10,000 people while the larger Katherine region has a population of just over 24,000. Katherine is well equipped as a regional town with a shopping centre that features a supermarket and many specialty shops. Katherine is on the edge of Kakadu National park which is filled with waterfalls and bush walks. Kayaking through the picturesque Katherine Gorge is a popular weekend activity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote a consultative and collaborative approach to person-centred care planning involving the resident and/or the resident’s representative
  • Ensure resident care is assessed, planned and implemented and progress is evaluated in accordance with the ARRCS model of care and takes into consideration each resident’s physical, social, emotional, spiritual and clinical needs
  • Develop, implement, monitor and review care plans to meet a resident’s healthcare needs to promote quality of life
  • Ensure reported changes or concerns in a resident’s condition are acted upon appropriately
  • Assist residents to participate in programs and recreational related activities

Essential Criteria:

To be considered for this opportunity, you must meet the below essential criteria:

  • Proof of full working rights within Australia
  • Current Resume with 2 contactable referees
  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent qualification
  • Sound clinical experience and knowledge in Australia, preferably in either aged or community care
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including experience in supervising small teams
  • Practical knowledge and experience undertaking clinical assessments and developing appropriate care plans
  • Demonstrated experience or ability to assist all Elders with the activities of daily living
  • Current National Police Clearance, or ability to obtain
  • Current Ochre Card, or ability to obtain
  • Current first aid certificate and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Relevant vaccinations in line with ARRCS staff vaccination policy
  • Previous experience working in a similar role with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, will be highly regarded
