Mala'la Health Service are seeking an experienced general practitioner specialist to provide GP locum services at Maningrida Health Centre. Travel Allowance paid for 1 day in and 1 day out.
Eligibility to apply
Must have current non-restricted registration by the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA) and fellowship of RACGP or ACRRM, or vocational registration. Previous experience working in the Top end as a GP and competent in PCIS.
22 February 2019 - 1 March 2019 - please enquire with your availability. Ideally 3 week placements or longer.
Currently working in the clinic are two GPs, one GP registrar, 12 remote area nurses, three Aboriginal health workers, two Aboriginal community workers, and two administration officers. Visiting services include a surgeon, physician, paediatrician, dental team, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, mental health and occupational therapist. Maningrida Health Centre has 13 consulting rooms.
8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Locum is not required to provide on-call services or work weekends

Transport and accommodation
All transport from the nearest major airport to and from your location is arranged by NT PHN. Accommodation and vehicle will be provided by the health service. The vehicle is not available for use outside of work hours. Accommodation includes a fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, TV, DVD player and radio.
Patient record system
This clinic uses PCIS. Previous experience with PCIS is highly advantageous. Orientation will be provided if necessary.
Maningrida is one of the largest Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory, located approximately 352 kilometres east of Darwin on the Central Arnhem Coast at the mouth of the Liverpool River. Travel to Maningrida takes 6 hours via road with part of the road sealed and part unsealed. There is a sealed airstrip in the community with daily flights from Darwin via Air North which takes approximately 1 hour. The population of Maningrida is approximately 3000 which comprises town residents and traditionally-based outstations, or which there are more than 30. A culturally diverse community, with 13 different language groups spoken, ceremony and traditional artwork remain an important part of daily life for many community members.
