The centre is targeted at anyone over 25 and will offer individuals and their families and carers on-the-spot assessments, advice, and treatment if required, without a prior appointment as well as access to services suited to their level of need.
We’re currently in the design phase of the project and seeking advice and input from the community to help co-design the centre and its function to make sure it meets local needs and complements existing services.
The centre will address some of the current gaps existing for people experiencing high levels of distress or suicidal crisis and will connect them with longer term care through other local services.
We are receiving $14 million in funding over four years to establish the centre, which is one of eight trial sites across Australia.
