We commission TeamHEALTH to deliver a suicide prevention service called The Way Back. The service supports people through the first three months following a suicide attempt, which fills a critical gap in our service system.
The Way Back was designed by Beyond Blue and is a non-clinical outreach service focused on providing psychosocial support to people experiencing a suicidal crisis or who have attempted suicide.
Those referred to The Way Back are assigned a support coordinator, within one business day, to guide them through recovery. They receive tailored, non-clinical, psychosocial care, plus, help to build a personalised safety plan and referrals to health and community services.
