Positive disruptor and innovative nurse practitioner Kylie Straube has been awarded the 2023 Nurse of the Year Award by the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association.

In 2023, Kylie took up the challenge of piloting the Northern Territory’s first nurse practitioner-led healthcare facility in Berry Springs, after the previous medical centre closed its doors.

Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to patient care, Kylie received the coveted nursing award for her ability to find innovative solutions and make transformative changes.

The nurse practitioner-led clinic was introduced after the Northern Territory PHN stepped in to find a new operator to service the Berry Springs region.

Remote Territory Healthcare was successful in its tender to preserve this vital service and help safeguard the health and wellbeing of local residents.

The decision to keep the clinic open has proven to be a catalyst for positive change, enabling accessible and high-quality medical services to continue to be delivered to local Territorians.
